The investment world is undergoing a transformation. More and more flexible specialised AIFs are being launched in Germany. „We are observing strong demand here,“ says Daniel Knoblach, Managing Director of Super Global GmbH. This is because professional initiators and asset managers in particular appreciate fund structures that are advantageous in terms of costs and administration. „And with specialised AIFs, initiators can also react quickly and flexibly to changing markets.“
Alternative investment funds offer the opportunity to invest in a much broader range of assets. Structured as special AIFs, and therefore only accessible to professional and semi-professional investors, the documentation requirements and thus the setup costs are significantly lower. „Informed investors in particular now value special AIFs highly,“ says Knoblach.
The lower cost ratio is one of the most important arguments. However, for the initiators of such funds, the speed at which the special AIFs can be brought to market also plays a significant role. „Since there is no distribution to private investors, the requirements in the prospectuses and documents are fully tailored to institutional investors,“ says Knoblach. „This makes the entire launch process leaner and faster.“
Free and non-binding
Compromises on transparency and security are not associated with the fact that German special AIFs are fully regulated. „Super Global, for example, as a manager for AIFs supervised by BaFin, offers diverse fund solutions for the German market,“ says Knoblach. „These include liquid trading strategies as well as fund-of-fund concepts, index or AI funds.“ And all of them can be launched as special AIFs in a cost-effective manner.
For the sub-funds, Special AIFs offer the advantage of increasing their own brand's visibility in addition to security and speed in the market. „An in-house fund strengthens the client brand and reduces administrative and compliance effort,“ says Knoblach. Furthermore, at Super Global, Oliver Decker, Head of Financial Services at Grand Thornton, sits on the supervisory board, an expert who knows how to implement regulatory requirements and comprehensive structural solutions.
